Problem of the day 7/15/11

There is a rectangle with dimensions 15 cm by 18 cm. The ratio of the area of this rectangle to that of another square is 5 : 6. What is the perimeter of the square?
324 cm

72 cm

36 cm

144 cm

answer. 72 cm

I got this answer because the area of the rectangle is 15 x 18= 270 sq. cm. The area of the square is 270 x 324 sq. cm
Each side of the square must be 18 cm. Perimeter of the square = 18 x 4 = 72 cm.
